The musical, ‘Le Passe Muraille’ was composed by Michel Jean Legrand,  one of the best soundtrack musicians of this century,  winning the Best Musical Award and the Best Director Award  at Nuit des Molieres Awards held in France in 1997.

The musical, 'Le Passe Muraille' is coming back on stage since it was performed in 2006 for the first time and had repeat performance in 2007. The musical is based on Le passé-muraille, a novel with the same title by Marcel Aymé, who is regarded as the most famous French author creating one of the greatest short stories of the 20th century, and it was dramatized by Didier van Cauwelaert. Moreover, it was composed by Michel Jean Legrand, who is considered as the best soundtrack musician of this century, winning five Grammy awards and three Academy Awards for OST with the films, ‘The Umbrella of Cherbourg’, ‘The 007 film series’ and ‘The Thomas Crown Affair Unknown.’ It was first performed in Paris on November 6 in 1996. Then in the following year, 1997, it won the Best Musical Award and Best Director Award of Nuit des Molieres Awards, which is a kind of ‘French Tony Award.



 


With the historical background of Montmartre in France in the 1940s, Le Passe Muraille captivates audiences with joyful and extraordinary imagination that blends fantasy with reality. The synopsis of Le Passe Muraille is that, one day, the main character, Dutilleul, has the ability to freely pass through the wall, which completely changed his ordinary life, and he brings terrible confusion all over France.  The musical is as beautiful and lovely as its subtitle, 'The love affair of Montmartre Hill', and the critics say it is full of witty words and joyful sense of humor and consistently arouses emotional sympathy and pathos from the audience.
